The ion beam is back in the ESR!
Apparently, there was a slit moved in. (Maybe even 2)
This could have been GEEXDR11S and/or the GEEXDR1AS
We now have the following parameters:
SIS injection energy = 537.5 MeV/u (we did not change this)
Chopper window 70 us (we did not change this)
We now have about 1.2e9 ions per injection in the ESR |

Angeblich war einen Schlitz, oder sogar 2, reingefahren worden.
Es könnte entweder der GEEXDR11S und/oder den GEEXDR1AS gewesen sein.

Since we cannot write on lustre, as a temproal solution two RAID 1 (mirror) USB hard disks with cpacity 6 TB each are installed.
The disk on the lxg1297 the disk can be accessd at /meida/sdd2
an on the lxg0155 at /media/sdc2
Regular backups should be written to these disks but NOT during data taking.
If we run out of local disk space /data.localx on the machines they could also be used as target for mbs.
Pleae check regularly if there is enough spance on the local disks. |

Due to some code changes (PMT over wavelength historgram) Kristian and I backuped a working Go4 code in the current go4 folder on the atplaser linux account.
It can be found in the subfolder "working go4 code 4.4.2020"
Nevertheless, the "normal" Go4 code in the th22 folder still works. |

First tries to see the bunched ions with full test experiment circle and detectors.
Bunching visible in xuv-anode, sa_sz, PMT-south, PMT-north.
Bunches seem to be very wide, possible wrong revolution frequency set in the DAQ.
PD NO doesn't see the laser, screen prop. still in front of the window.

We measured vertical and horizontal ion beam positions. Unfortunately, the horizontal scraper positions can not be manipulated
by the "Device Control" software. Robert Boywitt has supported us a lot to get the drives moving by using the expert software on
a local control PC, which can only be remotely accessed from beapc032 with the usual experiment account "atplaser". In the first
try we were only able to determine the vertical positions of a beam which was not the 229Th (positions were measured already on
Sunday, 03.04.)

Finally, we got 229Th (Wednesday, 06.04.) and were able to measure the ion beam positions. Those are
summarized in the following table. The first values are those were the scraping begins, hence representing the

We (Konstantin and I) have optimized the TEM "laser-beam position stabilization".
- I took some pictures (screenshots) about the current setting*.
- In order to be able to move the laser position faster we increase the P-Factor of both stages to 5 (maximum value).
- In "TriggerSignals_f_MRC_04-04-2022" the fast PD defines the origin (t = 0 s). |

As of Yuris post in the elog the positions (Info from H. Weick):
The postion of the particle counter behind the cooler is 21.6 m behind the middle of the cooler.
This correspond to 21.6m /108,4m = 1 / 5.02 of a full revolution (please check the present revolution frequency, i.e. for 2MHz, i.e. 500ns we have the signal approx 100ns after the ion is in the middle of the cooler).
If the detecot Nord would be used for bunch timing (only planned if detctor south is defect) the distance is half a ring + 21.4m, beind the center of the cooler, i.e. (54.2m+21.6m)/108.4m ~ 0.7 |

How to start go4?:
- go to console
- change directory to '/u/atplaser/go4/th22' by typing 'cd /u/atplaser/go4/th22' in the command prompt
- [OPTIONAL]: If go4 has not been started from this shell before type '. go4login64.sh'
- go4 &
- click on Launch analysis (see picture go4_1)
- click OK on the first pop-up window
- to get current data stream: enter event source: "MBS STREAM SERVER" and name: "r4l-41" (see picture go4_2), Click Submit+Start
- to analyze old data: select old .lmd file
- click on icon with three green arrows (see picture go4_3)
- click on Analysis -> Histograms -> Step2_Anl. Relevant data can be found under: "Trending" or "TDC"
if ESR bunch frequency has changed:
- open /u/atplaser/go4/th22/TLdaAnlProc.cxx in Geany (if not already opened)
- in line 490 change variable periodInBins to current frequency (frequency in e6 between /)
- close go4 and go to console

We the mid- and night shift (Wilfried, Simon, Patrick, Ken and me) we not able to manipulate the scrapers in the E-Cooler.
- Carsten contacted Markus concerning this issue.
- Markus replied one should follows the instructions he forward us. They are given in Entry 39 (this e-log)
