Wilfried, Jon, Sebastian | General | HV Divider position & DMM calibration |
We performed an autocalibration (attached picture 1) of the Keysight 34465A DMM (TUD Keysight).
The position and the "cabling" to the cooler platform was also adjusted (picture 2,3). |

Wilfried, Phillip, Max | Detectors | double PD NO peak problem solved |
In entry 36 one finds an additional PD NO peak around bin 100.
This was caused by signal reflection in the cable.
The problem was solved by adjusting the CFD threshold from 10 to 30.

Wilfried, Phillip, Max | DAQ | laser scan/step complete |
The scaler channel laser scan complete and laser step complete is interchanged in go4. Carsten will fix this on the software side.
Additionally the laser scan complete signal was not there in the first place. After checking the signal on multiple points, the signal was suddenly back in the DAQ.
Possibly there is a bad cable/contact somewhere (on the Labjack?). The signal should be checked in go4 from time to time. |

YL, KM | Accelerator | Reduced beam intensity |
The resonance in 209Bi has been seen during the night.
Reducing the intensity by a factor~1000, to simulate 208Bi conditions
Running low intensity since ~6:15-6:20
The present intensity is so low that DCCT does not see the beam.
On Schottky the beam is clearly seen as ~30-40 dB over the background.
The real intensity is to be determined from the NTCap, which is running (checked). |

Zoran | Accelerator | ESR Beam |
The main control room started setting up the Bi beam this morning, but quickly stopped in order to solve some problems around the UNILAC. Therefore we
should not plan to receive ions earlier than late in the evening on Monday, or probably Tuesday during the day. |

Zoran | Accelerator | status Monday evening |
The main control room is setting up the SIS for extraction. At the moment there are 2.5E8 particles in the SIS. Later they will check the transport and the devices for the
ESR injection. The ESR operators might (! no info available) take over later in the evening, but there will definitely be no beam for the experiment before tomorrow morning.
=> the night shift will not take place, unless some laser adjustments need to be done (so far we see no problems)
=> the morning shift does not need to come at 6AM. My guess is that before the morning briefing at 8:30 there will be no news.
The ESR cave is closed again. Talk to the main control room if you need access. |

Status SIS on Monday evening. ESR setting up starting on Tuesday morning. There is some prospect of getting more ions by setting up multi-multiturn
injection, however still uncertain. |

Questions:
There are many other masses/isotopes/etc. visible in the Shottky spectrum. Is this wanted?
Are the vacuum gauges turned off?
Laser timing correct? +- 3 bins?
|
No, this is not wanted and yes, the machine is aware of the problem. The decision on Tuesday evening was to leave the ESR in that state in order to start the measurement and continue setting on Wednesday. Otherwise the night shift could not take place.
The additional isotopes are only a few percent and should contribute insignificantly to the background rate. |

Zoran | Accelerator | beam lost in SIS |
For some reason the beam was lost in the SIS soon after taking the ESR beam this evening, reason unknown. Solved by sending teh full context to the SIS machine and having
operators to manually set the voltage of the SIS extraction kicker. Afterwards a slight readjustment of the transfer beamline was necessary:
In the SIS: GTE5 KY1, MU0, QD21, QD22 as well as in the ESR: GE01MU4I (5 -> 6 mrad)
This brought back around 1E7 particle in the ESR after 5 accumulated SIS injections. |

> The problem at the ESR septum is serious. They have to remove the broken part and try to repair it.
> Maybe tomorrow in the morning briefing there will be more information about this.
>
> The night shift will not take place!
> The morning shift starts at 9:00 or on further notice!
>
> The PMTs are switched off and the laser also.
Update from the morning briefing: the DCCT (power converter) of the injection septum was demounted and the EPS group is trying to fix it. There is no replacement available, so if they do not succeed this beamtime is over. They promised more information in the midday meeting at 12:45.
In the ESR Messhüte is some cake ("Trostkuchen"). |
