No, this is not wanted and yes, the machine is aware of the problem. The decision on Tuesday evening was to leave the ESR in that state in order to start the measurement and continue setting on Wednesday. Otherwise the night shift could not take place.

The additional isotopes are only a few percent and should contribute insignificantly to the background rate.

During the setup of the ion beam the voltage range of the Keysight DMM was changed from 10V to 1V. Additionally, the name of the high-voltage divider was adjusted (this changes only the filename of the file, which is stored at the local pc decpc003).

In entry 36 one finds an additional PD NO peak around bin 100.
This was caused by signal reflection in the cable.
The problem was solved by adjusting the CFD threshold from 10 to 30.

The scaler channel laser scan complete and laser step complete is interchanged in go4. Carsten will fix this on the software side.
Additionally the laser scan complete signal was not there in the first place. After checking the signal on multiple points, the signal was suddenly back in the DAQ.
Possibly there is a bad cable/contact somewhere (on the Labjack?). The signal should be checked in go4 from time to time.

For some reason the beam was lost in the SIS soon after taking the ESR beam this evening, reason unknown. Solved by sending teh full context to the SIS machine and having 
operators to manually set the voltage of the SIS extraction kicker. Afterwards a slight readjustment of the transfer beamline was necessary:

In the SIS: GTE5 KY1, MU0, QD21, QD22 as well as in the ESR: GE01MU4I (5 -> 6 mrad)

This brought back around 1E7 particle in the ESR after 5 accumulated SIS injections.

The wavelength in vacuum we expect is: 601.832nm

You can check the current wavelength in vacuum on the wavemeter in the LabView GUI.

edit: In the night shift, we checked the scanned vacuum wavelengths in the wavemeter and also checked the expected transition wavelength.
The resonance should be very much in the center of the above mentioned scan range.
The increment corresponds to 4.1 GHz steps. Is this small enough?

Tried 20 injections, got no injection into ESR, so moved back to 15. The scrapers were not moving for quiet some time, even after fixing them. The problem may have been that two ParamModi windows were opened. The injection into the SIS does not work when there are other users performing special operations with the machines.

The vacuum gauge of the e-cooler failed. It was restarted. Apparently, upon changing/fixing anything related to our accelerator pattern, the scrapers forget to move. Then they have to be disabled and enabled again in ParamModi. Also, the injection does not work very well. Either the transition from SIS to ESR fails or we are just skipped completely. After fixing the injection, again the scrapers failed as expected. We keep the scrapers out now.

It is not very useful to repeatedly fix cable contact problems.
Therefore, Carsten is adding a 'number of steps' line to the config file to "repeat" the x-axis.

We added on DAQ1 and DAQ2 1ms gated PMT North and PMT Middle signals.
Now we "supress" the signal by a factor of ~30.

Channel 12 --> 1ms gated PMT Middle

DAQ2:
Channel 12 --> 1ms gated PMT North
Channel 13 --> 1ms gated PMT Middle

Update: the same gate has been added to the XUV anode and anode delayed signals, but on their original TDC channels not on new ones, in order to not only reduce the background in the XUV signals but also reduce the load on the DAQ.

In order to correctly display the gated PMT signals PMT Middle and PMT North some modifications in the Go4 code were necessary. Affected files are TLdaAnlProc.cxx, TLdaAnlProc.h and TLdaInputDescription.h.
Modifications are indicated according to the scheme "//-- HH:MM mm-dd-yyyy: <description>" (an example is given in the attached screenshot). They were needed to

  1. Create relevant histograms (change of variable MAX_STEP from 10 to 13 and insertion of histogram names "QSWP1MS", "NORTH_GATED" and "MIDDLE_GATED" in the std::string array stepNames.
    Both adaptions were made in TLdaInputDescription.h)

  2. Fill the respective histograms. Changed lines of files TLdaAnlProc.cxx, TLdaAnlProc.h are listed below.
