Carsten | DAQ | NTCAP DAQ |
The NTCap DAQ computer in the HKR (Schottky logbook) is started, and all preparations for data taking (mounting of NAS etc.) are done.
Parameters for NTCAP DAQ will be adjusted as soon as beam is available. |

Carsten | Accelerator | Important: New ESR pattern - requies action for XUV detector in/out |
The ESR pattern is enhanced compared to the thorium experiment by additional machines that can be used for cooling/waiting in order to optimize 208Bi yield.
As a consequence, the sub chain numbers (previous: virtuelle Beschleuniger) are changed. The new numbers still have to be dialed in into the devices in the Messhütte and the automatic in/out of the XUV-detector tested- |

Wilfried | DAQ | Q-Switch signals + 0.5 ms and +1 ms in VUPROM |
We have generated two additional signals which are fed into two VUPROM channels:
Q-Switch + 0.5 ms --> channel 9
Q-Switch + 1.0 ms --> channel 10
(channel numbering 0-15)
The delays are generated by the two channels of a DGG222 |

Zoran | Accelerator | status Monday evening |
The main control room is setting up the SIS for extraction. At the moment there are 2.5E8 particles in the SIS. Later they will check the transport and the devices for the
ESR injection. The ESR operators might (! no info available) take over later in the evening, but there will definitely be no beam for the experiment before tomorrow morning.
=> the night shift will not take place, unless some laser adjustments need to be done (so far we see no problems)
=> the morning shift does not need to come at 6AM. My guess is that before the morning briefing at 8:30 there will be no news.
The ESR cave is closed again. Talk to the main control room if you need access. |

Status SIS on Monday evening. ESR setting up starting on Tuesday morning. There is some prospect of getting more ions by setting up multi-multiturn
injection, however still uncertain. |

Simon, Christopher, Kristian, Sebastian | Laser | Labview VI checkups |
The lower limit (to position) of the Cobra control VI has to be one increment smaller.
This means for moving from 601,95 to 601,74 the "to position" has to be 601.735.
We also checked the displayed HV values in Go4 with the shown values of the HV VI.
Both values in go4 and in the VI show the same value and are changing "simultaneously" (depending on the refresh time of go4 and Labview). |

Rodolfo, Max | Laser | Laser stabilisation running |
It is now possible to stabilize and move the laser with both stages.
The software and hardware settings are attached.
For synchronizing with the laser pulse we use following frequency generator settings:
period: 200us
high: 5V
low: 0V
duty: 50%
The frequency generator is triggered with the external Q-switch trigger signal, that is in coincidence with the ESR HF.
To use the stabilization one has to use the external and NOT the q-switch mode of the laser. |

Phillip, Wilfried, Max | Detectors | PMT Threshold |
Since we have ions in the ring now, we looked at the PMT thresholds and the widths. In order to do so we looked at the Raw Signal directly before the CFD and its output simultaneously. You can now set the threshold just above the noise. If the threshold is too low you will also see flat lines in the oscilloscope when triggered on the CFD output. New values:
PMT Mitte

Width: 200 -> 220 (60ns -> 90ns)
Threshold: 20 -> 5
PMT Nord

Width: 200 -> 220 (60ns -> 90ns)
Threshold: 12 -> 10

Sebastian, Patrick, Volker, Guy | Accelerator | T-Scraper Reloaded |
We have established a Control to "manually" move the T-Scrapers via a "remote desktop". We can now move both scrapers in the horizontal direction too.
We are now T-scraping the ion beam for determining its position in the vertical and horizontal directions. |

Patrick, Sebastian, Volker, Guy | Laser | Beam overlap |
We overlapped the laser with the ion beam.
The ion beam positions are:
device | move in dir. | scratch (mm) | gone (mm) | gone + 4.5 (mm) | x0 (mm)
|
GECEDS1VU | up | -3.0 | -2.7 | 1.8 |
|
| | | | |
|
GECEDS1HA | right | -21.9 | -20.9 | -16.4 | -4.7
|
| left | -12.0 | -13.1 | |
|
| | | | |
|
GECEDS2VU | up | -3.8 | -2.9 | 1.6 |
|
| | | | |
|
GECEDS2HA | right | -19.2 | -18.4 | -13.9 | in [-0.1, 4.3]
|
| left | -9.0 | -9.7 | |
|
We used the "gone + 4.5" column where the scraper is in the middle of the ion beam to adjust the laser.
Picture 1: Final beam position.
Picture 2: Final MRC settings.
Note 1: By switching to the "real" bunching frequency, the laser went out of the stabilization. We restarted the MRC system and shifted the laser back into position with the piezo mirror, looking at the first screen (without amplifiers!).
After enabling everything again, the before found settings did not correspond to the correct beam position anymore, so we overlapped again.
Note 2: After the repositioning, the horizontal screw was at its limit and the beam stabilization failed. We moved the screw away from the limit while still hitting the screen and restarted the MRC system. The laser could then be stabilized again. |

Patrick, Sebastian, Volker, Guy | Laser | Laser - bunch timing |
We added the delay and gate generator in between the bunch trigger and the CFD to move the timing of the PMT middle signal relative to the photodiodes north and south.
The center value of PD-North is at 19 bins, PD-South at 55 bins, the middle is therefore at 37 bins. The PMT peak should be half a revolution, ie 75 bins further in the histogram, giving a peak position of 112, from which then 3 bins are subtracted to account for the distance of the PMT-middle from the center of the straight section. So all in all the delay is adjusted so the PMT-middle peak appears at 109 bins (see attached plot). |

Patrick, Volker, Guy | Runs | Start laser scanning |
Runs of the night shift. The wavelength range is 601.95 - 601.735 nm.
We started the wavemeter python script on atppc023 located in Desktop/wavemeter_Bi.
We changed the wavelength range in go4 to the actual scan range.
Questions:
There are many other masses/isotopes/etc. visible in the Shottky spectrum. Is this wanted?
Are the vacuum gauges turned off?
Laser timing correct? +- 3 bins?
